Permit Process at Totem Pole

The purpose of this process is to make it easier to understand what is needed to obtain a building or site alteration permit from Totem Pole Park.

All blank permits and paper work will be kept at the front office or the manager’s. You should also obtain a copy of the Totem Pole use regulations if you don’t already have one. This will help you understand what can and can’t be done.

If you are building an add a room, deck, shed, roof over, gazebo, tip outs or adding screen to your canopy or if you are putting a park model on your lot you must get a park and town permit. This package must include 3 sets of drawings of what you are building and 3 sets of plot plans (birds eye view). If you are putting a park model on your lot you must show a plot plan (birds eye view).

If you are building a hot water heater room or putting a platform under your canopy you must get a totem pole permit.

If you are removing any trees, building or replacing a wall with different style or height, building a four foot high wood shed, or doing any site alterations you must get a Totem Pole permit.

All permits must be reviewed by the permit committee and approved by TPP Building Permit Committee, and if required, by the Town of Freedom, before any work can be done. All work being done must comply with the totem pole park use regulations.

Every permit must have three signatures before any work can be done. If there are not three committee members there to sign off on a permit a board member may sign off after he or she has reviewed the permit.

Permits will only be given out from April 15 to October 1 of each year. The permit committee will have 14 days after they have received permit to ether approve or reject permit and return to main office. The unit owner is ultimately responsible for seeing they have all proper documents before building.

Building can only be accomplished from April 15 to Nov 1 of each year. Building hours are 8:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday thru Sunday.

Any further questions should be referred to the Building Permit Committee below.
